Ron Mays (Director of Hockey Operations, Head Coach u9 Oakville Oilers) Ron Mays has been involved in hockey for over 40 years as a player, coach, scout and business owner. A former minor hockey coach at the AAA level with both the Burlington Eagles and Oakville Rangers organizations, Ron has earned his Advanced Level II NCCP coaching certification as well as a Masters Degree in Sports Psychology. Prior to opening Cutting Edge Hockey Development Centre 10 years ago, Ron coached and scouted in the OHL with the Mississauga and Niagara Ice Dogs and has coached many players who have gone on to play in the OHL, NCAA and NHL.
Ron is a strong believer in the long-term athlete development model and the Players’ First philosophy that the Oakville Oilers Hockey Club is based upon.
Skill Development Coaches
Perry D’Arrisso:
A graduate of the Mississauga Senators minor hockey association, Perry played junior hockey in Canada and the United States before accepting a scholarship to NCAA Division I Clarkson University.
After completing his education, Perry played pro hockey in Europe and I the ECHL with the Brampton Beast.
Perry has been the Head Instructor at Cutting Edge Hockey Development Centre for 2 years and is highly regarded for his knowledge and ability to make training sessions challenging and enjoyable.
Andrew Dovey:
A graduated of the Burlington Eagles minor hockey organization, Andrew played junior hockey in Ontario before accepting an NCAA scholarship to Adrian College in Michigan where he was also the team’s captain.
After completing his playing career, Andrew shifted his focus to coaching. He is currently an Assistant Coach with the University of Toronto Men’s hockey team.
Adrian Volpe (Assistant Director of Hockey Operations, Head Goalie Coach)
A graduate of the Burlington Eagles minor hockey organization, Adrian played in the OHL for the Niagara Ice Dogs and Kitchener Rangers before playing CIS hockey at Brock University.
The current goaltending coach and goaltending developing coach with the OJHL’s Burlington Cougars and the OHL’s Erie Otters, Adrian is a passionate and highly knowledgeable goaltending coach who is very popular with his students.
Adrian Volpe (Lead Goaltending Coach and Owner, Cutting Edge Hockey Development Centre): As a player, Adrian played his minor hockey in Burlington, Ontario before suiting up for the OHL’s Niagara Ice Dogs and Kitchener Rangers. At the end of his OHL career, Adrian played CIS hockey at Brock University.
The current goaltending coach for the OJHL’s Burlington Cougars, Adrian is a passionate and highly knowledgeable goaltending coach who is very popular with his students. Adrian is also a partner with the Cutting Edge Hockey Development Center.
